In this video recording of a live presentation, Keith Smith, CO, LO FAAOP and Dr. Janice E.Brunstrom Hernandez, board certified pediatric neurologist, co-present to give you a well-rounded look at how you can use DAFOs in treatment plans for patients with cerebral palsy (CP). Keith and Dr. Jan, as her patients like to call her, worked together for many years in the Cerebral Palsy Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Dr. Jan is passionate about helping children with CP live their best lives, and she is a wonderful role model because she has CP herself. In the course, Keith shares his vast experience in bracing kids with CP including looking at bracing goals and brace planning before and after medical and/or surgical interventions. Dr. Jan shares background information on cerebral palsy, shows you many case studies, and tells you what her favorite DAFOs are for patients with CP.

Know the difference between the motor disorders associated with patients with CP.
Know the most common bracing goals for many patients with CP and how to plan braces accordingly.
Know how to plan bracing that will support a patient who is undergoing surgical or neurological interventions.

This course is approved for 2.5(S) credits by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, & Pedorthics. Participants must complete the final test with a minimum passing score of 80%. Cascade Dafo will submit names to ABC on a monthly basis.
