What is crouching? Is it simply flexed knees during gait? The answer is not as straightforward as it seems. Join us as we look at the process of assessing and planning bracing for patients who present with crouched gait. Through video case studies and interactive participation, we’ll explore dynamic brace selection, casting, ordering, fitting, and optimizations to help patients with excess dorsiflexion achieve the best possible outcomes.
Upon completion of this course, you will:
- Know the true definition of crouched gait.
- Be able to complete an assessment for a patient with crouched gait, including assessing the full kinetic chain.
- Be able to use the DAFO Guide and your knowledge of the patient to select the most appropriate brace design.
- Be able to select brace optimizations to enhance resistance to dorsiflexion.
